Tankless is unmatched in providing endless streams of hot water efficiently. That’s the conclusion of a recent nationwide survey conducted by Rinnai of potential gas tankless hot water heater customers and new owners.
The survey results affirm the centrality of hot water to daily life and, crucially, the reliability of the technology supplying it. In fact, 92% of survey takers said they were interested in purchasing a tankless hot water heater after learning about the benefits offered.
Hot Water In Demand (and On Demand, Too)
More than 90% of survey takers said they would make repairing or replacing a broken water heater their highest priority.
Additionally, more than one-third of respondents stated they were most likely to run out of hot water due to increased demand, such as frequent showers or multiple hot water appliances in use simultaneously.
Tankless water heaters warm up water on demand, supplying a heated flow that never runs out. Although tankless hot water is not instant — as the unit must first determine the volume of hot water to instantly heat and release — it arrives quickly and is never-ending.
Motivating Factors for Purchase
Sixty percent of survey takers reported the most compelling reason to buy a tankless water heater is the energy savings associated with the unit — up to 40% utility reduction over a water storage tank heater.
Enhanced comfort from limitless hot water proved to be a top motivator for 45%, while 34% were prompted to go tankless by their efficient functionality of only producing hot water as it’s needed. Tankless water heater longevity — up to 20 years or more, twice that of a conventional water heater — and the resulting lower cost of ownership were the largest factors for others.
Overwhelmingly, 92% were interested in purchasing a tankless unit after learning about its benefits of ownership. Among those are tankless energy cost savings, longer life span, and limitless of hot water.
After purchase, the majority of tankless owners ranked saving energy as the top benefit of taking the tankless plunge.
Another 36% said the biggest advantage was lifestyle enhancement with limitless hot water, flowing for any duration. The money-saving benefits also appealed to owners: 33% said its ability to lower their household operating expenses was their biggest reward.
Impressively, 93% were extremely or very satisfied with their tankless unit as were 91% with its installation.
