Right now there are incredible incentives and tax credits available for Oregon Residents. By changing from a traditional tank-style water heater to a Rinnai tankless water heater and using one of the participating Rinnai dealers, NW Natural customers can get up to $2,240.

The incentives add up like this:

  • $200 gas credit on your NW Natural account, courtesy of a participating Rinnai dealer
  • $200 cash rebate from the Energy Trust of Oregon for a Rinnai tankless water heater with Energy Factor of 0.80 or greater
  • Up to $340 Oregon tax credit (25% of installation and equipment costs) , Energy Factor of 0.80 or greater (Not available to Washington customers of NW Natural)
  • Up to $1500 federal tax credit** for Oregon and Washington (30% of equipment and installation costs), Energy Factor of 0.82 or greater

** Note: The maximum a taxpayer may claim from all Fed home improvement energy tax credits combined is $1500 over the lifetime of the tax credit (2009-2010). This applies to 30% of installed costs up to a $1500 limit (including qualifying furnaces, water heaters, a/ c , insulation, etc and is retroactive to Jan. 1, 2009. Good on personal income taxes for installations is primary residences only. This tax credit is part of the new American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
